Overview
The Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL) is Alabama's primary marine education and research center. DISL is the home site of the Marine Environmental Sciences Consortium and was founded by an act of the Alabama State Legislature in 1971. It also has a public aquarium specializing in estuarine organisms, the George F. Crozier Estuarium.

Best TimeSpring and autumn offer perfect weather to enjoy both the indoor aquarium tanks and the outdoor salt marsh boardwalk. Arriving around 10 AM helps avoid the heavy midday beach-bound traffic.
Getting ThereLocated on the eastern tip of Dauphin Island, about a 45-minute drive south of Mobile. Drive south on AL-193 across the Dauphin Island Bridge, turn left and follow to the end; free parking is on-site.
