Getting ThereThe primary Island in the Sky unit sits northwest of Moab. Car transit is mandatory: take US-191 north from Moab for 10 miles, turn left west onto the scenic UT-313 W for 14 miles, and bear right onto Grand View Point Road straight to the visitor center gates. Features free, well-graded paved loop parking at all canyon overlooks.

- Completely Disconnected Districts Warning: Separated by deep river canyons, the park's three main areas—Island in the Sky, The Needles, and The Maze—have no internal driving connections. Driving between them takes hours; day trippers should stick to Island in the Sky.
- White Rim 4WD Permits & Low-Range Enforcement: Driving the famous backcountry White Rim loop requires an advanced NPS permit. All-wheel-drive crossovers are banned; vehicles must be true high-clearance 4x4s equipped with a low-range transfer case.
