The canyon is internationally famous for its rare inhabitants called 'Dismalites'—unique bioluminescent insect larvae that glow with a brilliant, neon-blue light along the canyon walls at night. Guided night tours offer an ethereal, fairytale-like experience as the canyon illuminates under a spectacular, living canopy of stars.
