Best TimeWinter from December to March is prime time for world-famous powder skiing. Summer from July to August is ideal for viewing vibrant alpine wildflowers, with early morning offering the best soft light to photograph the western face of the Teton Range.
Getting ThereLocated east of Alta. Drive via Wyoming Highway 22 (Teton Pass) to Idaho Highway 33, then follow the dedicated mountain road up to the resort. A 4WD vehicle with snow tires is highly recommended during winter.
Travel Tips
- Since the resort is on the western slope of the Tetons, driving from Jackson, WY requires crossing the steep Teton Pass. It frequently closes due to heavy snow or avalanche mitigation in winter; always check WYDOT real-time road conditions before departing.
- During peak winter ski season, upper parking lots usually fill up before 9:00 AM. It is highly recommended to use the Teton Valley Transit (TVT) shuttle from Driggs, Idaho, to avoid winter driving stress and parking delays.
- Summer Mountain Bike Park lift tickets are significantly cheaper when purchased online at least 24 hours in advance. High-altitude weather shifts rapidly, and afternoon thunderstorms will trigger immediate, temporary lift closures for lightning safety.

- The resort has a wonderful, rustic vibe, and the ski staff and instructors are exceptionally friendly.

- There is plenty of free day parking available, and the walk from the lot to the main lifts is very convenient.
Heads up
- Dining options on the mountain are quite limited and expensive, offering poor value for basic burgers and fries.
- Some of the lodging facilities at the base and certain chairlifts feel outdated and need modern upgrades.
- The weather is volatile, and we frequently encountered heavy fog (known as 'Targhee fog'), making visibility at the summit extremely poor.
- The location is relatively remote if you aren't driving, with very few public transit or shuttle options to the nearest town.
