Overview

The Shore Path is a coastal path in Bar Harbor, Maine, United States. Established in 1881, it runs along the shore of Frenchman Bay, from Ells Pier, beside Agamont Park, in the north to an east–west-running continuation of the path at the eastern end of Wayman Lane. To the west of the path, mostly in its southern section, are the properties of several of Bar Harbor's historic "cottages".

Starting behind the historic Bar Harbor Inn, this 0.75-mile historic path is free; however, segments border fragile sea-walls and pass directly through private historic estate lawns, strictly banning stepping off the gravel path past residential boundary fences.
The ocean walkway enforces a strict ban on all mountain bikes, scooters, and rollerblades; domestic dogs must be held on a very short non-retractable 4-foot leash with mandatory pet waste cleanup enforced under hefty municipal citation fines.
