Getting ThereSituated in Wilmington, NY, at 5021 NY-86, just 15 minutes northeast of Lake Placid village. Driving is straightforward: from Lake Placid, follow the scenic highway NY-86 East for 9 miles straight to the ski area's enormous complimentary gravel base lots. (The individual auto highway highway peak relies on a seasonal toll gate). During the ski season, the local free shuttle bus network extends direct connectivity to the lodge.

- The Veterans Memorial Highway experiences complete seasonal winter closure from mid-October through mid-May due to extreme arctic summit ice and heavy high-altitude blizzards.
- The stone elevator tunnel leading from the upper castle parking area to the absolute summit is perpetually damp and freezing cold; packing thermal outerwear is mandatory even for mid-summer trips.
- The exposed peak is prone to sudden severe wind gusts exceeding 50 mph; open umbrellas are explicitly banned on the narrow ridge trail, and tight-fitting beanies are heavily advised.
