Founded in 1904 upon the arrival of the Las Vegas and Tonopah Railroad and named after early rancher Montillus Murray Beatty, the community rapidly developed into a prosperous shipping capital and commercial hub for the surrounding gold and silver mining districts. Today, while the mining empires have modernized, Beatty coordinates its rugged working-class frontier heritage with world-class desert art tourism, eco-exploration, and unique desert wildlife interaction, offering immediate access to ghost towns and some of the most extreme valley terrains on earth.
