Blanding is the largest city in San Juan County, situated on a high wind-swept plateau in southeastern Utah. Settled in the late 19th century by Latter-day Saint pioneers, including descendants of the famous Hole-in-the-Rock Expedition, the city historically relied on cattle ranching, dry-land farming, and uranium mining. Due to its strategic geographic positioning, Blanding has become the primary basecamp and southern gateway for exploring an immense concentration of ancient Native American ruins, archaeological treasures, and rugged desert wilderness landscapes within the Four Corners region.
