About this city
Charlestown is a deeply historic, atmospheric waterfront neighborhood positioned flatly on a peninsula between the Charles and Mystic rivers, directly north of downtown Boston. Originally laid out in 1628, it predates Boston proper and historically served as a critical battlefield crucible during the early days of the American Revolutionary War.
