Crescent City, named for its crescent-shaped sandy coastline, serves as the county seat of Del Norte County in the isolated upper reaches of Northern California. Situated just south of the Oregon border, the city functions as a historic timber and fishing port exposed directly to the wild Pacific. It is the major northern gateway to legendary ancient temperate rainforests and is historically known for its resilience following a catastrophic 1964 tsunami.
