Leavenworth is a globally celebrated Bavarian-style alpine village located on the eastern slopes of the Cascade Range in Chelan County, Washington. Originally a booming railroad and timber town that fell into severe economic collapse, the community saved itself in the 1960s by entirely remodeling its downtown into a meticulous replica of a German mountain hamlet. Flanked by the dramatic jagged peaks of the Icicle Valley, it is famous for its strict alpine architecture, authentic beer gardens, and massive seasonal festivals.
