Founded in 1871 by pioneer Frederick Post, who purchased the site from Native American Chief Seltice to establish a massive water-powered lumber mill, the city was long tied to timber processing. Today, it serves as a highly progressive residential metropolis and industrial center, blending extensive lakeside canyon trails with vibrant tech development.
