About this city
Also known as: Christmas City of the Magic Valley
Rupert is a historic, charming city and the county seat of Minidoka County, Idaho, located on the northern plains of the Snake River within the fertile Magic Valley. Founded in 1904 as a direct result of the Minidoka Reclamation Project, it became one of the first cities in the world to have its public buildings and homes illuminated by electricity generated from a federal hydroelectric dam. The city is structurally built around a beautifully preserved, historic European-style town square, reflecting its early pioneering success and engineering heritage.
