Centrally positioned in Houston County within Georgia's heartland region, Warner Robins is a booming industrial city recognized nationwide as the home of Robins Air Force Base. Established in 1942 around a sleepy rural whistle-stop called Wellston, the city was rapidly created and named in honor of Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins, widely regarded as the 'father of logistics' in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Driven by the massive expansion of the military installation, Warner Robins grew into one of the state's most populous and economically dynamic communities. Today, it coordinates a robust aerospace maintenance and defense contracting economy, complemented by a culturally diverse population, premium sporting facilities, and one of the largest aviation museums in the country.
