Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve is the largest unit of the U.S. National Park System, encompassing an astonishing 13.2 million acres of raw alpine wilderness in south-central Alaska. This colossal UNESCO World Heritage Site is a convergence of four massive mountain ranges and contains nine of the sixteen highest peaks in the United States. Characterized by the massive Malaspina Glacier, the largest piedmont glacier in North America, it protects an untamed wilderness of active volcanism and historic copper mining ghosts.
